Prayer Time

The prophet (May the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: he is not part of us, he who does not show kindness to our young ones.

It is inferred from the prophetic tradition that being kind to the young ones is obligatory while not being so is prohibited. Whoever shows kindness to them is practicing the prophetic guidance and how esteem is he! Kindness to the young ones is a sign of purity of the heart. The prophet (May the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) told one who has never kissed any of his children for once "Then what can I do if Allah has deprived you of mercy?" This indicates that not being kind to the young is a sign that the hearth has been deprived of kindness.

Kindness to the young ones is a factor of the descent of blessing. The prophet (May the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)  said: " show kindness to those on earth the one in the heaven will be kind to you" and he said " those that show kindness will be blessed by the most Gracious".

The one who is kind to the young ones is bound to attain Allah's special kindness; the prophet said "whoever does not show kindness to others would not gain graciousness,".

This indicates that the one that shows kindness shall achieve Allah's kindness.

Kindness to the young ones always soften their hearts and attaches them to their relatives. Allah says:

" ??????? ???????? ????? ??????? ????? ?????? ? ?????? ????? ?????? ??????? ????????? ??????????? ???? ???????? "

"It is part of the Mercy of Allah that thou dost deal gently with them Wert thou severe or harsh-hearted, they would have broken away from about thee …".

That indicates that people cannot be gathered round except through kindness while harsh-heartedness disperses people. Therefore, you have to be kind to your children, it is through that their hearts soften and get attached to you, love you and obey your instructions.

Kindness to the children manifests in the following ways:

Training them according to their age. Educating a child according to his age is the best of all kindness. The prophet (May the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: "command them to observe prayer at seven and flog them for it at ten". This is training and education at seven. They are trained with motivation without compulsion and without beating until the age of ten. When they are ten years but do not observe the prayer they are lightly flogged without hurting. It is never kindness to flog a child at seven for prayer but kindness is to encourage him with motivation. In addition, it is not kindness to leave a child at ten unpunished for abandoning prayer rather it is kindness to flog him appropriately.

Satisfying the child' need according to his age, be it emotional or otherwise. That is the reason the prophet used to peck the children. Satisfying child's need in terms of affection and emotion is part of kindness. Similarly is satisfying his need in terms of game and toys. One day the prophet (May the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) led people in prayer and elongated his prostration more than usual. Shaddad Ibn Aos ,said' when I raised my head to see what is happening, I saw that a boy (Hassan / Husain) has mounted the prophet. After the prayer, the people said to the prophet "you have elongated today's prayer unlike others, and we feared something happened or you were receiving a revelation? And he answered, nothing happened and I was not receiving a revelation but it was my boy that mounted me and I feared not hasten him before satisfying his desire.

This happened while the prophet (May the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) was observing obligatory prayer and equally leading people in prayer. How exalted is kindness to the children by satisfying their need in terms of play. The prophet used to play with Ana's brother by saying : o you father of umayr  , how is your  bird (Nugayr)? How direly are we in need of this kind of prophetic guidance at the time when the hearts are hardened even against the children?
