Prayer Time

  |      |      |   The Message of Islam:

Among the praiseworthy deeds which Islam exhorts its adherents towards is the recitation of the Noble Qur’an in the hours of dawn. This act is witnessed by the both the angels of the day and th angels of the night who take turns from one another. Allah says:

Perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat) from mid- day till the darkness of the night (i.e. the Zuhr, 'Asr, Maghrib, and 'Isha' prayers), and recite the Qur'an in the early dawn (i.e. the morning prayer). Verily, the recitation of the Qur'an in the early dawn is ever witnessed (attended by the angels in charge of mankind of the day and the night)”{ Qur’an: 17:78}

The command to recite the Qur’an before dawn becomes significant as the recitation is ever witnessed by the noble Angels of Allah, who go back to Him and speak in high terms about the noble reciters of the Qur’an before dawn.

According to Tafsir Ibn Kathir, the phrase “Qur’an Al-Fajr” means the Salatul Fajr.

The Tafsir further states:

“According to the version recorded in the two sahihs from Abu Hurayrah, the Prophet sal-lal-laahu-alaihi-wa-sallam said:  “The angels of the night and the angels of the day come amongst you in successive groups (in shifts). They meet at the morning prayer (Fajr) and at the mid-afternoon prayer (‘Asr). Those who stayed among you at ascend, and their Lord asks them, although He knows best about you, “How did you leave my servants” They say, “We came to them when they were praying and we left them when they were praying.”

Early Hours before dawn is the most productive time by all means.  Our glorious Prophet Muhammad sal-lal-laahu-alaihi-wa-sallam, his noble companions and the pious predecessors of the Muslim Ummah used to value this time by indulging in great acts of worshiping one’s Creator. One should therefore cultivate the habit spending the precious hour in union with the Creator in doing acts of worship such the recitation of the glorious Qur’an.
