Prayer Time

  |      |      |   The Message of Islam:

All praises and thanks belong to Allah who legislated Islam and made it a perfect religion which abrogated all inhume acts of the pagans. I seek His special salutations on our beloved Prophet Muhammad, his family and all companions who were beacons of guidance and light, teachers and liberators of mankind from the darkness of man-made laws, corrupted and superstitious beliefs, and unjust civilizations.

Jahiliyyah is an Arabic word which literally means “State of Ignorance” or “Time of Ignorance”.  Technically it refers to the period before the mission of prophet Muhammad saw in Arabian Peninsula when the people were worshipping idols and had no revelation to guide their belief and conduct.

Patience and endurance were among the prevailing conducts of the Arabs of Jahiliyyah.  This is well seen in the hadith of Suwaid Ibn Haarith al-Azdi (may Allah be pleased with him) when he  came to the noble Prophet Muhammad (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) as the leader of a delegation to announce their Islam on behalf of their people.  The Prophet may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him asked him about the conduct of his people in jahiliyya to which he responded thus:

we uphold five conducts in jahiliyya :1-gratefulness and showing thanks during times of affluence 2-patience during afflictions 3-endurance when facing the enemy 4-contentment with the bitterness of the decree and preordainments, and  5-patience over misfortunes caused by the enemies, the holy Prophet may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him( being enamored with these great qualities) said: “ wise and knowledgeable people, they nearly become Prophets due to their truthfulness”(source: wafd qaba’ili Arabiya by Hasan Abdul Hamid Jabr).

The above qualities and conducts were further endorsed by Islam and the believers were encouraged towards upholding them throughout every facet of their life and to encourage and invite towards them. In the glorious Qur’an and the lofty traditions of our dear and beloved Prophet (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), many references were made to this fact. In Surah Al-Imraan verse number 200, Allah says:

{ O you who believe! Be patient, and advocate patience, and be united, and revere Allah, so that you may thrive.}

In Surah Anfal, Allah encouraged the believers to remain steadfast and endure with perseverance in order to attain success, Allah says:

{ And obey Allah and His Messenger, and do not dispute, lest you falter and lose your courage. And be steadfast. Allah is with the steadfast} ( Al-Anfaal: 46).

Also in Surah al-Baqara Allah mentioned that glad tidings await such who exercise patience and perseverance during times of afflictions. Allah says:

{We will certainly test you with some fear and hunger, and some loss of possessions and lives and crops. But give good news to the steadfast. Those who, when a calamity afflicts them, say, "To God we belong, and to Him we will return." Upon these are blessings and mercy from their Lord. These are the guided ones} (Al-Baqara 155-157)

In the Hadith of Prophet Muhammad may the peace and blessings of Allah of Allah be upon him he is reported as saying: “ He who is patient has triumph”

May Allah guide us to these beautiful conducts of Islam and may His salutations be upon the final Prophet, his family and all companions.
