Prayer Time

  |      |      |   The Message of Islam:

One is greatly pleased when he sees the efforts of people in the last ten days of Ramadan and their concern on them and their eagerness to benefit from its time, but one is astonished most surprisingly when he sees these righteous people themselves, not paying attention to these blessed days(first ten days of zul-Hijjah), do not care about it, and do not strive in them as their striving in the last ten days of Ramadan, whiles these days(first ten days of hajj month) are better than those days, as stated above. This dictates that much concern be given to these days, and the believer should be keen to seize more of its goodness and take advantage of every bit of its moments in things that will ensure his proximity to Allah and raise his status with Him.

The previous traditions has shown that good deeds done in the ten Days(10) of Zul-Hijjah are more beloved to Allah and better with Him than the same deeds done in other days, and that acts of worship in them are worthier than the same acts of worship in other days. Hence, deeds in these ten days are better than all other deeds done in other days, and better than all kinds of jihad except the type of jihad that was exempted by the Messenger of Allah peace and blessings of Allah be upon him when he said:" except a man who went out with his life and wealth and never return with any of them". Ibn Rajab says: this shows that a non-preferable deed performed in a preferable time meets up with a preferable deed and even over takes it due to the multiplication of its reward".

If this is the case, and you know O! Muslim that Allah loves deeds done in these days and blesses them and purifies them, then it behooves you to strive in these days, and be keen in utilizing every second of its time and to fill them up with different types of good deeds and acts of worship , which will bring you closer to your Lord and be the cause of your happiness and your salvation in this world and the hereafter, for surely days are conveyance of lifetimes and storages of deeds, and you have nothing of your life O! man except what you spent in obedience to your lord, and what you deposited with your Lord you shall find it in a much greater need on the day wealth and children will be of no avail except one who came to Allah with  a tranquil heart.

"Then those whose balance (of good deeds) is heavy,- they will attain salvation. But those whose balance is light, will be those who have lost their souls, in Hell will they abide"(Mu'minuun:102-103), be keen on being the closest of all people to Allah, and the most beloved to Him, and the highly elevated in His sight, and if you can afford not been preceded to Him by anybody, do so and if you see someone vying with you in worldly matters, vie with him in matters of the hereafter.

How excellent are the words of a poet when he said:

O! you servant of the body how miserable you are in its service

You tired yourself out in what is a loss

Turn towards the soul and complete its goodness

For you are a human due to the soul and not the body

From among that which shows the significance of these ten(days of Zul-Hijjah): is that Allah enjoin certain great deeds in them which He has not enjoined in other days, and that they are unique with the fact that they are a combination of the origin of all worships ranging from prayers, fasting, charity, Hajj, At-Takbeer, remembrance of Allah(zikr) and sacrifice on the Day of Eid, which are not realized in other days.

Also, from among the best things that wins slaves proximity towards their lord, is doing what He has made obligatory on them, and discharging it in the manner in which He loves and is pleased with, Allah says in a hadith Al-Qudsi:" "He who is hostile to a friend of Mine I declare war against. My slave approaches Me with nothing more beloved to Me than what I have made obligatory upon him, and My slave keeps drawing nearer to Me with voluntary works until I love him. And when I love him, I am his hearing with which he hears, his sight with which he sees, his hand with which he seizes, and his foot with which he walks. If he asks me, I will surely give to him, and if he seeks refuge in Me, I will surely protect him"(Al-Bukhari). Hence, it is befitting for you O! Muslim that you exercise much keenness in observing the compulsory deeds properly, especially the salaat as it is the pillar of the religion and the most important of the pillars of Islam after the shahaadatain(the two testimonies). Your condition in these important days should not be like your condition before them such as observing the salaat at late hours and negligence about contemplation and humility in it, and do likewise in the other obligatory deeds such as dutifulness to parents, strengthening the ties of kinship and discharging the due rights of Allah or the rights of anyone among His creation.
