All praise is due to Allah, Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon the Messenger, his household and Companions.

The world today is witnessing a huge technological information revolution, which is bursting with unprecedented information from the past, even  this whole world tomorrow with its vast space will be like a small village where people pass  information on a plate of gold without any pain or  fatigue. This is a great blessing that requires giving appreciation to Allah, as this is the case in all of his great blessings and favors. But, this grace will soon turns into a curse; if it is not framed by the Shari'ah framework, and regulated by its legal rules. Therefore, it is incumbent upon all those involved in such heinous acts to hasten in rectifying their situations by exerting efforts to achieving the principles of the Sharia in this dangerous and influential matter in the life of nations and individuals.

The following are some of the Islamic principles which regulate the dissemination of information through media platforms;

1-Avoiding information that has no benefit to disseminate, and uselessness to broadcast. The true Muslim is a person who usually keep on disseminating useful information and keep on abstaining from gossip which has no benefit. Allah says in the Qur'an:

{وَافْعَلُوا الْخَيْرَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ}.

[…And do good that you may succeed]. Qur'an 22:77.

2- Achieving credibility and integrity, and  keeping away from lies and treachery.  Allah says in the Qur'an:

{يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَكُونُوا مَعَ الصَّادِقِينَ}.

[O you who have believed! fear Allah, and be with the truth speaking ones (in words and deeds]. Qur'an 9:119.

Abdullah ibn Mas’ood (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that:

قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: [عليكم بالصدق، فإن الصدق يهدي إلى البر، وإن البر يهدي إلى الجنة، وما يزال الرجل يصدق ويتحرى الصدق حتى يكتب عند الله صديقا، وإياكم والكذب، فإن الكذب يهدي إلى الفجور، وإن الفجور يهدي إلى النار، وما يزال الرجل يكذب ويتحرى الكذب حتى يكتب عند الله كذابا].

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: [You must be truthful, for truthfulness leads to righteousness and righteousness leads to Paradise. A man will keep on speaking the truth and striving to speak the truth until he will be recorded to Allah as a siddeeq (speaker of the truth). Beware of telling lies, for lying leads to immorality and immorality leads to Hellfire. A man will keep telling lies and striving to tell lies until he is recorded to Allah as a liar]. (Reported by Muslim 4/ 2013).

You may see an information now in this contemporary time coming out in the social media loaded with colors of lies and treason. Then it circulates round the world until it spread sedition and corruption in the horizons.

3- Taking into account the reality of the environment, and considering the situation of the addressees, what may be disseminated in a specific environment and then be useful to its people, should not be disseminated  in another environment, otherwise  it will bring evil consequences on the people in that society.

4- The dissemination of information should not lead to evil, corruption or sedition, even if the origin of this information is true. This is one of the great jurisprudence that has been absent from the people today except those on whom Allah's blessings. Abu Hurayra said: "I preserved from the Messenger of Allah(peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) two large vessels of knowledge. I disseminated the first one among the people. If I am to disseminate the second, my gullet would be cut."

5- Making verifications and certainties before disseminate any information, as Allah states in the Qur'an:

{يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِن جَاءَكُمْ فَاسِقٌ بِنَبَإٍ فَتَبَيَّنُوا أَن تُصِيبُوا قَوْمًا بِجَهَالَةٍ فَتُصْبِحُوا عَلَى مَا فَعَلْتُمْ نَادِمِينَ}.

[O you who have believed! if an evil-doer comes to you with a report, look carefully into it, lest you harm a people in ignorance, then become regretful for what you have done]. Qur'an 49:6.

Finally, the aforementioned is just an epitome among the basic principles that Islam has laid down for disseminating information among the people and the society. Therefore, it is obliged on us to comply with it in any information we want to disseminate. May Allah guide us to his right path.
