The Objectives of Words.

The Muslim in his vocal and mental dealings with others, he neither wants by so doing a reputation or praise from the people nor rewards or thanks. Each Prophet used to say to his people what Allah said about them in his Book the Qur'an:

{And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.} (Ash-Shu'araa: 109).

But seeks to achieve great lofty goals, that suit the supremacy of the religion he is calling people to.

Perhaps the most prominent of these objectives are:

(A) To uphold the word of truth.

(B) To respond to falsehood.

(C) To gain the addressee.

(D) Self-defense.

The following is a brief explanation on these objectives:

(1) Upholding the word of truth:

Upholding the word of truth is one of the highest goals that the Muslim seeks to achieve in all his actions, because it is the purpose of sending Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) as the Almighty said:

{It is He who has sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth to manifest it over all religion, although they who associate others with Allah dislike it.} (At-Tawbah: 32).

And Jihad, which is the most prominent way of dealing with violators (infidels) was mainly prescribed for that purpose, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) said:

[He who fights so that Allah's Word (i.e. Islam) should be superior, fights for Allah's Cause.] (Sahih al-Bukhari 3126).

And so the word must be in the same line to uphold the word of Allah and the banner of truth and justice, not to be intended for different purposes.

When the Khawarij  said: {Legislation is not but for Allah} Imam Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) denounced what they meant by that and said: "The statement is true but it is intentionally applied (to support) a wrong (cause)" [Sahih Muslim 1066].

That's why,  this word must be far away from the approaches of the people of stubbornness and deep controversies, those who Allah Almighty described by saying:

{And of the people is he whose speech pleases you in worldly life, and he calls Allah to witness as to what is in his heart, yet he is the fiercest of opponents.} (Al-Baqara: 204).

Some of which includes misunderstandings, these are issues used to create confusion between the scholars and others, and it has been forbidden.

(2) Responding to falsehood:

Among the objectives of the Muslim in his advocacy speech: responding to falsehood.

This is one of the types of Jihad, as stated in the hadeeth:

[Fight the polytheists with your money, your lives, and your tongues] (Sunan Abi Dawud 2504).

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to Hassan bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him):

[Satirize them (with your poems), and Jibril is with you]. (Sahih al-Bukhari 4124).

He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to Hassan:

[Satirize against the (non-believing amongst the) Quraish, for (the satire) is more grievous to them than the hurt of an arrow.] (Sahih Muslim 2490 ).

If a true Muslim sees or hears falsehood, it is the right of Islam upon him to invalidate that falsehood as much as he can, whether it is a raised suspicion, or a condemnation in the religion and its people, or a ridicule on both of them or something else.

To be continued, insha Allah…
