  Obligatory Acts of Hajj.

The Second Issue: Obligatory acts of Hajj

1 - Ihram from the Sharee‘ah-approved Meeqaats.

2 - standing at Arafah until sunset for those who come to it(Arafah) during the day; because the Prophet(peace be upon him) stood at Arafah until sunset as it will be explained in the description of his Hajj, and he(peace be upon him) said:

[خذوا عني مناسككم].

 [Learn your rituals from me].

3 - Spending the night at Muzdalifah on the night of An-Nahr (night of the tenth day of Thul-Hijjah) until midnight, because the prophet (peace be upon him) did so.

4 - Spending the nights of the Days of Tashreeq at Mina.

5 - Stoning the Jamraat as regulated by Shariah.

6 - Cutting hair or shaving head, for the saying of Allah:

{لَتَدْخُلُنَّ الْمَسْجِدَ الْحَرَامَ إِن شَاءَ اللَّهُ آمِنِينَ مُحَلِّقِينَ رُءُوسَكُمْ وَمُقَصِّرِينَ}.

{You will surely enter al-Masjid al-Haram, if Allah wills, in safety, with your heads shaved and [hair] shortened}. (Al-Fath:27).

And for the fact that the prophet(peace be upon him used to do so, and his command to do so.

7 - Farewell Tawaaf for unmenstruating women and un-postpartum women; for the hadeeth of Ibn Abbas,(may Allah be pleased with him and his father) that:

[أمر الناس أن يكون آخر عهدهم بالبيت، إلا أنه خفف عن المرأة الحائض].

[The prophet(peace be upon him): commanded pilgrims that the last thing they should do in Makkah is to circumambulate Al-Bayt (the Ka‘bah), but he exempted menstruating women]. (Recorded by Al-Bukhaari, No:1755, and Muslim, No:1327).

And Whoever leaves any one of these obligatory acts intentionally, or inattentionally must offer a sacrifice (a sheep, one-seventh of a she-camel or a cow) to make up for it, and his Hajj is valid, due to what has proven by Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) that he said: "Whoever forgot any of the rituals (obligatory acts of Hajj) or left it must offer a sacrifice". (Recorded by Ad-daraqtni, 2/191, and Al-Bayhaqi, 5/152).

Any acts except what have mentioned are Sunnah acts. The most important of these Sunnah acts are:

1 - Ablution for entering in Ihram, using of perfume and wearing of two white dresses.

2 - Trimming of the nails, taking of the pubic hair, armpit, cutting of the mustache and what may necessary to take off.

3 - Tawwaf of the arrival for the Mufrid(one who come for Hajj alone) and Qaarin(one who make intention of Hajj and Umrah together at the Meqaat).

4 - Walking rapidly in the first three circuits of the Tawwaf of Arrival(Tawwaaf al-Qudum).

5 - Idtibaa' in the tawaaf of Arrival: which is to put the middle of the garment under his right shoulder, and its sides on his left shoulder.

6 - Spending the night of Arafah in Arafah.

7 - Saying of Talbiyah from the time of entering into Ihram until stoning of Jamra al-Aqbah.

8 - Combination of Maghrib and Isha prayers at Muzdalifah.

9 - Standing in Muzdalifah at the Mashari al-Haraam from the dawn until sunset, if it is possible, otherwise all the Muzdalifah areas are allowed for standing.

To be continued, insha Allah...
