Paradise and Its Pleasures.

The reality of Paradise is something which people will never be able to understand until they actually enter it, but God has shown us glimpses of it in the Qur'an.  He has described it as a place essentially different to the life of this world, both in the very nature and purpose of life, as well as the types of delights which people will enjoy therein.

People in this world experience some delight, they also face much toil and suffering.  If one was to scrutinize the life which they live, they will find that the amount of hardship they face is much more than the ease and comfort.  As for the life of the Paradise, there will be neither hardship nor suffering in it, and people will live therein in pure joy and delight.  All the causes of sorrow, pain and suffering which people experience in this life will be absent in the Paradise.

Allah gives us a glimpse of this when he says:

{... There will be there all that the souls could desire, all that the eyes could delight in …}. (Qur'an 43:71).

He says:

{…They will be adorned therein with bracelets of gold and will wear green garments of fine silk and brocade, reclining therein on adorned couches. Excellent is the reward, and good is the resting place}. (Qur'an18:31).

Allah drew a comparison between the pleasures of this world and the joys of Paradise, and explained that the delights of Paradise are far superior to this world's pleasures. The Qur'an speaks at length denouncing this world of instant, fleeting pleasures and stating that the rewards with Allah as far better, to encourage man to strive hard for success in the next world:

Allah says:

{Nor strain thine eyes in longing for the things We have given for enjoyment to parties of them the splendor of the life of this world, through which We test them: but the provision of thy Lord is better and more enduring}. (Qur'an 20:131).

The clothing, food, drink, jewellery and palaces of the people of Paradise will be far superior to their counterparts in this world. There is infact no room for comparison, as even the smallest space in Paradise is better than this world and all that is in it.

The prophet(peace be upon him) said:

[Indeed, the space of a whip in Paradise is better than this world and everything in it]. (At-tirmidhi, No: 3285).

The hearts of the people of Paradise will be pure, their speech will be good, their deeds righteous. There will be no hurtful, upsetting, offensive or provocative talk there, for Paradise is free of all worthless words and deeds. Allah says:

{They shall there exchange, one with another, a cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill}. (Qur'an52:23).

One of the pleasures that Allah will bestow on the people of Paradise will be wine. The wine of Paradise is free of all the troubles and problems that characterize the wine of this world, which makes people lose their minds, and causes headaches, stomach aches and other physical disorders, or which may have something wrong in the way it is made, or its color, etc. But the wine of Paradise is free from all such faults; it is pure and beautiful. Allah says:

{Round will be passed to them a Cup from a clear-flowing fountain * Crystal-white of a taste delicious to those who drink (thereof), Free from headiness * Nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom}. (Qur'an37:45-47).

In short, Paradise contains all kinds of delights and joys that one's heart could desire. Allah says:

{Race toward forgiveness from your Lord and a Garden whose width is like the width of the heavens and earth, prepared for those who believed in Allah and His messengers. That is the bounty of Allah which He gives to whom He wills, and Allah is the possessor of great bounty}. (Qur'an57:21).
