Time and Place of Slaughtering the Sacrificial Animal and its conditions.

The time of slaughtering the sacrificial animal:

The time of slaughtering the sacrificial animal for Tamattu'u and Qiran begins from after the Eid prayer on the day of Nahr (slaughtering), till the last day of the days of Tashriq(i.e. 11, 12 and 13 days of Dhul Hijjah).

As for the slaughtering of Fidyah(Expiation) of harm of and dressing its time is just after committing it, so also the Fidyah(Expiation) of leaving a compulsory act of Hajj.

As for slaughtering an animal due to Ihsar(Prevention) it's done whenever it causes occur, which should be a sheep or one seventh of a camel or one seventh of a cow, based on the Sayings of Allah in the Qur'an:

{فَإِنْ أُحْصِرْتُمْ فَمَا اسْتَيْسَرَ مِنَ الْهَدْيِ} (البقرة: 196).

{But if you are prevented, then [offer] what can be obtained with ease of sacrificial animals} (Al-Baqarah: Verse 196).

The place of slaughtering the sacrificial animal:

According to Sunnah the Sacrificial animal for Tamattu'u and Qiran should be slaughtered in Mina, but if it is slaughtered in any part of the Haram it will be accepted.

So also the Fidyah(Expiation) of leaving a compulsory act of Hajj and committing a nullifier of Ihram, the Sacrificial Animal must be slaughtered in the Haram, except for the Sacrificial Animal of Ihsar(Prevention), it should be slaughtered at the place where it occur.

As for the fasting it is permitted to be done anywhere. But it is preferable to fast three days during Hajj and fast seven days when the person returns to his people; this is based on the sayings of Allah in the Qur'an:

{And when you are secure, then whoever performs 'umrah [during the Hajj months] followed by Hajj [offers] what can be obtained with ease of sacrificial animals. And whoever cannot find [or afford such an animal] - then a fast of three days during Hajj and of seven when you have returned [home]. Those are ten complete [days].} (Al-Baqarah: Verse 196).

It is preferred that the Pilgrim should slaughter the Animal by himself, but if he asked someone else to do it nothing will be wrong with that. It is also preferred to say when slaughtering: "BISMILLAH, ALLAHUMMA HADHA MINKA WA LAKA". This means: In the name of Allah, O Allah this is from You and for You.

The conditions of the sacrificial animal:

As for the conditions required on the sacrificial animal; they are the same condition required in Udhiyah(the Animal to be slaughtered on the day of Eid al-Adha):

1/ It must be a camel, cow or sheep.

2/ It must be free from the faults that make it insufficient, such as: sickness, blindness, lameness and skinniness.

3/ It must meet the required age according to the Islamic legislation: which is Five years for camels, Two years for cows, One year for goats and Six months for sheep.
