Prayer Time

Wonders of the Prayer and Its Impact on the Heart, Body and Organs.

Prayer is the link between the human being and his creator, It is the mother of all worship and the base of obedience. It is the river of goodness and flood of rewards. It is the worship that Allah will not accept from a person anything except if it is well done. It is the main pillar of the Religion and its main symbol. It is the main source of happiness for the believers, as it was reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

[وَجُعِلَتْ قُرَّةُ عَيْنِي فِي الصَّلاَةِ].

[my comfort has been provided in prayer] (Sunan an-Nasa'i Book 36, Hadith 2).

Also, Salim ibn AbulJa'dah said: A man said: (Mis'ar said: I think he was from the tribe of Khuza'ah): "I would had prayed, and got comfort". The people objected to him for it. Thereupon he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying:

[يَا بِلاَلُ أَقِمِ الصَّلاَةَ أَرِحْنَا بِهَا].

[O Bilal, call iqamah for prayer: give us comfort by it.] (Sunan Abi Dawud  Book 43, Hadith 213). And Al-Albani graded it as Sahih.

(I would had prayed, and got comfort) i.e by worshiping Allah and communicating to Him and the sweetness of reciting the verses of the Qur'an.

At-Tayyibi said: "They objected his wish to have comfort in the prayer which is difficult and heavy on the soul, may be they forgot Allah's saying in the Qur'an:

{وَاسْتَعِينُوا بِالصَّبْرِ وَالصَّلَاةِ ۚ وَإِنَّهَا لَكَبِيرَةٌ إِلَّا عَلَى الْخَاشِعِينَ} (البقرة: 45).

{And seek help through patience and prayer, and indeed, it is difficult except for the humbly submissive [to Allah]} (Al-Baqarah: 45)."

At-Tayyibi (may Allah have mercy on him) means that: Anyone who humbly submit himself to Allah in his prayer, it will serve as a comfort for him in his heart, conscience and body; because Mis'ar (may Allah be pleased with him) wished for comfort by praying. It is indeed a comfort from everything if total submission takes place.

Allah said in the Qur'an:

{وَإِنَّهَا لَكَبِيرَةٌ إِلَّا عَلَى الْخَاشِعِينَ} (البقرة: 45).

{And indeed, it is difficult except for the humbly submissive [to Allah]} (Al-Baqarah: 45).

At-Tayyibi said while explaining the previous hadith: "Give us comfort by performing it by keeping the heart busy. It was said that: the occupation of the Prophet(peace be upon him) with the prayer was a comfort for him, because he used to consider other works of the world other than the prayer as restlessness. He used to have comfort in the prayer because it involved talking to Allah. That's why he said:

[وَجُعِلَتْ قُرَّةُ عَيْنِي فِي الصَّلاَةِ].

[my comfort has been provided in prayer] (Sunan an-Nasa'i Book 36, Hadith 2)." ( See: Mirqat Al-Mafateeh Sharhu Mishkat Al-Masabeeh 3/939).

So, the prayer is a comfort for the heart, a comfort for the conscience and it is also a comfort for the body and organs. Provided it is done with humbleness and total submission to Allah.

This has also been proved in a research done by the Scientific Research Foundation in the United States of America; that the body benefit from this comfort as well as the conscience.

We as Muslims we do not pray because researches have proved that the prayer has benefits on the parts of the body. But we pray because Allah the Almighty commanded us to do so. He said in the Qur'an:

{وَأَقِيمُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَآتُوا الزَّكَاةَ وَارْكَعُوا مَعَ الرَّاكِعِينَ} (البقرة: 43).

{And establish prayer and give zakah and bow with those who bow [in worship and obedience].} (Al-Baqarah: 43).

And because the prayer is the main pillar of Islam. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said in the hadith narated by Mu'adh bin Jabal:

[…The head of the matter is Islam, and its pillar is the Salat, and its hump is Jihad…] (Jami` at-Tirmidhi Book 40, Hadith 11].

As for knowing the material benefits people get from the prayer with authentic proves of no doubts, this is just an addition to our faith and belief that Allah did not compel on us except that which is good for us at all time, and He did not forbid us from anything except that which is bad, harmful and evil. All the goodness is in that which Allah had made lawful for us, and all the bad and evil things is in that which Allah had made forbidden for us.

May Allah the Almighty help us steadfast in the prayer and give us comfort in it.
