Is Remorse Alone Enough for the Forgiveness of Sins.

Is remorse sufficient for the forgiveness of sin? Or should the conditions of repentance be completed? May Allah reward you with good.

Praise be to Allah and may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon the messenger of Allah and his family and companions, after that:

Even though remorse is one of the basic pillars and the most important condition of repentance, that alone is not enough for repentance. Rather, it is necessary to complete all the conditions of repentance, so that the repentance will be true and correct.

Al-Akhhdari said: "The conditions of repentance are: remorse for what has passed, intend not to be involved in any sin for the rest of his life, and to leave the sin he is involved in at the moment if he is in a sin".

Ibn al-Qayyim said in Madarij As-Salikeen: "As for regret, repentance will not be fulfilled without it, because he who does not regret for his ugly did, that means he is satisfied with it, so also his insistence on it."

In Al-Musnad: "Remorse is repentance - and for the abstinence, repentance is impossible while the person is still committing the sin".

Therefore, it is a must to abstain from sin in repentance and keep away from disobedient with a serious determination not to return to it in order for the conditions of repentance to be fulfilled.

And Allah knows the best.
