Saudi Arabia: Tourism Authority licenses the First Museum for the History of Science and Technology in Islam

The General Authority for Tourism and National Heritage in Riyadh has issued a license to the Museum of the History of Science and Technology in Islam at Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University in Riyadh, as the first museum specialized in the history of science and technology in Islam in saudi Arabia.  The museum for the history of science and technology in Islam that was set up by the university in cooperation with the Institute of the History of Arab and Islamic Sciences at Frankfurt University, Germany.

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, may Allah protect him, has inaugurated the Museum during the Second World Conference on the History of King Abdulaziz, organized by Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University in 2015.

It is noteworthy that the Museum contains a large number of Muslims' inventions, especially from the times of the third century to the tenth century AH, and contributes to highlighting the creativity of Muslim scholars in various fields of science. The Museum includes a number of sections: astrolabes, monitoring machines, astronomical observatories, geography, navigation, compasses, Islamic medicine, war instruments, architecture, engineering, optics, chemistry, physics and technology.
